Behind the Quality: How Welping Pipe Fittings Are Made

When it comes to building a reliable piping system, many people focus on the pipes themselves, but often overlook the importance of the pipe fittings. At Welping, we believe that the quality of polyethylene pipe fittings is the foundation of a durable pipeline. So how are these pipe fittings made, and what makes some stronger than others? Let’s take a look behind the scenes.

The story starts with the raw material. Welping pipe fittings use both imported and domestic polyethylene. The imported material — a black PE resin from the UAE — has excellent performance and durability. Domestic white PE resin is also widely used, but regardless of the source, a black masterbatch is always added. This masterbatch improves UV resistance, making the pipe fittings last longer even when exposed outdoors.

Fittings are produced by injection molding. Once the molten PE is pressed into the mold and cooled, the pipe fitting takes shape. However, the process doesn’t stop there. After demolding, you’ll notice small burrs or rough edges. At Welping, these are carefully trimmed by hand to ensure every pipe fitting is smooth, round, and ready for reliable installation.

During trimming, the burrs and scraps can be recycled. Technically, they can be reprocessed into new pipe fittings. But here’s the catch: once recycled material is mixed in, the quality drops. With too much recycled content, pipe fittings may look fine at first, but after only two or three years, leaks and failures can appear. That’s why at Welping, we strictly control the use of virgin material to guarantee long service life.
